Reference: Adore
Easton
to worship; to express reverence and homage. The forms of adoration among the Jews were putting off the shoes (Ex 3:5; Jos 5:15), and prostration (Ge 17:3; Ps 95:6; Isa 44:15,17,19; 46:6). To "kiss the Son" in Ps 2:12 is to adore and worship him. (See Da 3:5-6.) The word itself does not occur in Scripture.

The earliest idolatry, that of the sun, moon, and heavenly hosts (Hebrew tsaba), Sabeanism. Laying the hand on the mouth expresses deep reverence and submission (Job 40:4). So "kiss the Son," i.e. adore (Ps 2:12). Portrayed in the sculptures of Persepolis and Thebes. Falling down and worshipping prostrate was the worship subsequently paid to Babylonian idols (Da 3:5-6).
