But Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to the hardness of their heart;

not in the passion of lust like the heathen, who do not know God;

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,

But all this they will do to you for my name's sake, because they do not know him who sent me.

And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.

inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done.
