Amasa'i, or Amas'a-i
(burdensome)
1. A Kohathite, father of Mahath and ancestor of Samuel
2. Chief of the captains of Judah and Benjamin, who deserted to David while an outlaw at Ziklag.

3. One of the priests who blew trumpets before the ark.
4. Another Kohathite, in the reign of Hezekiah.
Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was the chief of the thirty, and he said, "We are yours, O David, And with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, And peace to him who helps you; Indeed, your God helps you!" Then David received them and made them captains of the band.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah also were gatekeepers for the ark.
Then the Levites arose: Mahath, the son of Amasai and Joel the son of Azariah, from the sons of the Kohathites; and from the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and from the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah and Eden the son of Joah;
