(rendered "botch" in De 28:27,35), an aggravated ulcer, as in the case of Hezekiah (2Ki 20:7; Isa 38:21) or of the Egyptians (Ex 9:9-10,11; De 28:27,35). It designates the disease of Job (Job 2:7), which was probably the black leprosy.

The common gathering on the flesh, attended with inflammation, which the Hebrew word shechin implies. The boils were doubtless malignant when sent as a plague in Egypt, Ex 9:9-11; and they were severe in the case of Job when smitten by Satan. Job 2:7. If you have a boil that has healed and if afterward a white swelling or a reddish-white spot appears where the boil was, you should go to the priest. read more. The priest will examine you. If the spot seems to be deeper than the surrounding skin and the hairs in it have turned white, he will pronounce you unclean. It is a dreaded skin disease that has started in the boil. If the priest examines it and finds that the hairs in it have not turned white and that it is not deeper than the surrounding skin, but is light in color, the priest will isolate you for seven days. If the spot spreads the priest shall pronounce you unclean. You are diseased. If it remains unchanged and does not spread, it is only the scar left from the boil. The priest will pronounce you ritually clean.
