Reference: Chambers Of Imagery

Fausets

Eze 8:7,10,12. The vision is not of an actual scene, but an ideal pictorial representation of the Egyptian idolatries into which the covenant people had relapsed; having light enough to be ashamed of their idolatries, and therefore practicing them in secret, but not decision enough to renounce them, casting away their superstitious fears and self willed devices to allay them. Idolatry tends more and more to degrade its votaries, so that in Egypt they sank so low as to worship abominable creeping things. Their own perverse imaginations answer to the priests' chambers in the vision, whereon the pictures were portrayed. If "in the wall" of most men's religious profession "a hole" were opened whereby the inner heart might be seen, what awful pictures would be seen in "the chambers of imagery"! (See Joh 3:20.)
