El'nathan, or Elna'than
(God hath given).
1. The maternal grandfather of Jehoiachin,
the same with Elnathan the son of Achbor.
2. The name of three persons, apparently Levites, in the time of Ezra.
Jehoiakin was eighteen years old when he became king. He was king for three months in Jerusalem. His mother was Nehushta daughter of Elnathan from Jerusalem.
Then I sent for Eliezer and Ariel and Shemaiah and Elnathan Jarib and Elnathan and Nathan and Zechariah and Meshullam, all responsible men; and for Joiarib and Elnathan, who were wise men.
King Jehoiakim sent soldiers to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor and other soldiers along with him.
Then he went down to the scribe's room in the king's palace where all the scribes were sitting. The scribe Elishama, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials were there.
Even when Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he refused to listen to them.
