One of the faithful women who ministered to Christ while living, and brought spices to his tomb. Her husband Chuza was a steward of Herod Antipas, Lu 8:3; 24:1-10.

whom Jehovah has graciously given. (1.) The grandson of Zerubbabel, in the lineage of Christ (Lu 3:27); the same as Hananiah (1Ch 3:19).
(2.) The wife of Chuza, the steward of Herod Antipas, tetrarch of Galilee (Lu 8:3). She was one of the women who ministered to our Lord, and to whom he appeared after his resurrection (Lu 8:3; 24:10).

2. Wife of Herod's steward Chuza. She ministered from her substance to Jesus. It is a coincidence obviously undesigned, therefore confirming the truth of the Gospel history, that Herod therein is recorded as having "said to his servants, This is John the Baptist" (Mt 14:2). She being our Lord's disciple He would be naturally often spoken of among Herod's servants, and to them Herod would speak concerning Him, Manaen, Herod's foster brother, was a church teacher subsequently (Ac 13:1). Joanna was also one of the women who brought spices early to the Lord's tomb (Lu 24:10).
