He opened the bottomless pit, and smoke like the smoke of a great furnace flowed out of the pit; and the sun and the atmosphere were darkened by the smoke from the pit.

He brought me up out of a horrible pit [of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock, steadying my footsteps and establishing my path.

[It is hopeless!]” Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe [in Me], you will see the glory of God [the expression of His excellence]?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes [toward heaven] and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw the stone [already] removed from the [groove across the entrance of the] tomb.

And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” Looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, though it was extremely large.

And they found the [large, circular] stone rolled back from the tomb,

The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints (God’s people) who had fallen asleep [in death] were raised [to life];
