Fausets
1. Nu 32:37; Jos 13:19. A town of Reuben. Belonged first to the Emim (Ge 14:5 Shaveh Kiriathaim. "the plain of Kiriathaim," or of the two cities) whom the Moabites dispossessed before the Exodus (De 2:10-11). Moab lost and recovered Kiriathaim when the trans-jordanic tribes were carried captive (Jer 48:1-23; Eze 25:9).
2. Kiriathaim of Naphtali, assigned to the Levitical Gershonites (1Ch 6:76).

In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
(The Emim formerly lived there, a people great and many, and tall as the Anakim. Like the Anakim they are also counted as Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim.
and out of the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands, Hammon with its pasturelands, and Kiriathaim with its pasturelands.
Concerning Moab. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Woe to Nebo, for it is laid waste! Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; the fortress is put to shame and broken down; the renown of Moab is no more. 1. A town E. of the Jordan, in the disputed territory between Moab and Reuben, placed by the Onomasticon 10 Roman miles W. of Madeba (Ge 14:5; Nu 32:37; Jos 13:19; Jer 48:23; Eze 25:9); unidentified. 2. A town in Naphtali (1Ch 6:76), called Kartan in Jos 21:32.
