Laughter is used in the Bible in three ways. (1) It is opposed to weeping, as Ec 3:4; 7:3; Job 8:21; Ps 126:2; Lu 6:21. (2) It expresses incredulity, as Ge 17:17; 18:12. (3) It signifies derision, as Ps 2:12, Bel 18.
