Hastings

One of the Dedanite tribes in N. Arabia (Ge 25:3), the others being Leummim and Asshurim (wh. see). In this verse Septuagint adds two other tribes; but in the parallel passage, 1Ch 1:32, the sons of Dedan are omitted altogether both in Massoretic Text and in most MSS of Septuagint. None of the three tribes has been identified.
