This people draweth nigh to me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

He answering said to them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues have they used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips.

It is written in the law, In foreign tongues and with foreign lips will I speak to this people; and neither so will they hear me, saith the Lord.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name.
