A gate of Jerusalem (Ne 3:31), in the wall of Zion, the city of David. (See JERUSALEM.) It means "judgment", but is translated "number" 1Ch 21:5; 2Sa 24:9.

Hastings
A gate somewhere near the northern end of the East wall of Jerusalem, as may be deduced from the one reference to it (Ne 3:31 AV 'the gate Miphkad,' RV 'the gate of Hammiphkad') describing its restoration after the Exile. Many attempts have been made to identify it more exactly; but as the course of this part of Nehemiah's wall has not been revealed by excavation, and consequently the positions of its gates are not known with certainty, such attempts are mere guesswork. It was probably not in the wall of Jerusalem proper, but in that of the city of David, or Zion, and somewhere near to the junction of the two on the north side.
