refresher, one of the sons of Ishmael (Ge 25:15; 1Ch 1:31). He was the father of an Arab tribe.

Fausets

("refreshment".) The last but one of Ishmael's sons (Ge 25:15; Nephish, 1Ch 1:31; 5:19-23). Reuben, Gad, and half Manasseh made war with Naphish's tribe and were conquerors.

Hastings

A son of Ishmael (Ge 25:15 = 1Ch 1:31). In all probability it is his descendants who are mentioned in Ezr 2:50 as 'the children of Nephisim' (RV) or Nephusim (AV and Revised Version margin). In the parallel passage (Ne 7:52) the reading is Nephushesim (RV) or Nephishesim (AV and Revised Version margin). The reading in 1Es 5:31 is Nephisi.
