kussemeth. This is judged to refer to 'spelt,' the Triticum spelta, a species of grain resembling wheat. Ex 9:32; Isa 28:25. The same Hebrew word in Eze 4:9 is translated 'fitches,' with 'spelt' in the margin. The northern rye is the Secale cereale.
And when he hath made it plain, he soweth it with fitches or cumin. He soweth the wheat and Barley in their place, Milium and Rye also in their place.
