Teko'ite
Designation of Ikkesh, father of Ira, one of David's mighty men. 2Sa 23:1, 26; 1Ch 11:28; 27:9. The Tekoites were inhabitants of Tekoa: they helped to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, but "their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord." Ne 3:5,27.
These are the last words of David: The proclamation of David son of Jesse, the proclamation of the man raised on high, the one anointed by the God of Jacob, the favorite singer of Israel:
Beside them the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not lift a finger to help their supervisors.
Next to him the Tekoites made repairs to another section from [a point] opposite the great tower that juts out, as far as the wall of Ophel.
