Samuel's older son (1Ch 6:28). JOEL in 1Ch 6:33 and 1Sa 8:2. "Joel" may have dropped out from 1Ch 6:28, and wesheeni will mean "and the second."

Samuel's firstborn son, according to Massoretic Text of 1Ch 6:13 (Eng. 28), which is followed by AV. RV, following the Syr. (see mg.), and on the strength of 1Ch 6:18 (33) and the || 1Sa 8:2, supplies Joel as the name of Samuel's oldest son, and substitutes 'and the second Abiah' for 'Vashni and Abiah.'
