He struck seventy men among the men of Beth Shemesh because they looked into the ark of Yahweh. So the people mourned because Yahweh had struck a great blow among the people.

Because the first time you did not, [and] Yahweh our God burst out against us, for we did not care for it according to the law." Then the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
But the priests were too few, and they were not able to offer all the burnt offerings, so their brothers, the Levites, strengthened them to finish the work, and until the [rest of] the priests consecrated themselves. (For the Levites [were] {more conscientious} to sanctify themselves than the priests.)
