Then said Paul, John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people, that they should believe in Him that was coming after him, that is, in Christ Jesus. And when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And as Paul laid his hands on them, the holy Spirit came upon them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. For as in one body we have many members, and all the members have not the same office: so we who are many, are one body in Christ, and every one members of each other. Now concerning spiritual gifts, my brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit: and there are different offices, but the same Lord: and there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God who worketh them all in every one. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the advantage of all. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another the discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the same Spirit distributing to every one in particular as He sees fit.
