In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard of it, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

And Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel, [and reigned] twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah. And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver. And he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill, Samaria.


Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the borders of it, from Tirzah, because they did not open to him, therefore he smote it. And all the women in it who were with child he ripped up.

And Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and smote Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and killed him, and reigned in his stead.
