When Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Jared. After he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years and had other sons and daughters.
When Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, he became the father of Enoch. After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters. Jared lived a total of nine hundred and sixty-two years, and then he died.
