And we took all his cities the same season, and destroyed all the cities with men, women, and children and let nothing remain, save the cattle only we caught unto ourselves and the spoil of the cities which we took: from Aroer upon the brink of the river of Arnon, and the city in the river, unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us. The LORD our God delivered all unto us:

When the LORD thy God hath brought thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee: the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perezites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; seven nations more in number and mightier than thou:
And Joshua said, "Hereby ye shall know, that the living God is among you, and that he will, without fail, cast out before you the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perezites, the Gergesites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
So now seeing the LORD God of Israel hath cast out the Amorites before his people, shouldest thou possess the land?
Again: I brought you out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, that ye might have the Amorites' land in possession.
