This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah in their kindreds.

Hazarshual, Beersheba, and Bazjothjah;

and came to the strong town of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites and of the Cananites, and then went out to the South of Judah even to Beersheba.


And their inheritance was Beersheba, Sheba, and Moladah;

Out of the portion of the children of Judah came the inheritance of the children of Simeon. For the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: and therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance in the inheritance of them.

And they dwelt at Beersheba, Moladah and at Hazarshual,


Wherefore the place is called Beersheba, because they sware both of them. Thus made they a bond together at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol his chief Captain rose up and turned again unto the land of the Philistines. And Abraham planted a wood in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God:

So turned Abraham again unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.


but seek not after Bethel. come not at Gilgal, and go not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall be carried away captive, and Bethel shall come to naught.

yea even they that swear in the offense of Samaria, and say, 'As truly as thy God liveth at Dan, and as truly as thy God liveth at Beersheba' These shall fall, and never rise up again."


And Abraham rebuked Abimelech for a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had taken away. And Abimelech answered, "I wist not who did it: Also thou toldest me not, neither heard I of it, but this day."


And Abraham rose up early in the morning and took bread and a bottle with water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulders with the lad also, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered up and down in the wilderness of Beersheba. When the water was spent that was in the bottle, she cast the lad under a bush and went and sat her out of sight a great way; as it were a bowshot off. For she said, "I will not see the lad die." And she sat down out of sight, and lift up her voice and wept. read more.
And God heard the voice of the child. And the angel of God called Hagar out of heaven and said unto her, "What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not, for God hath heard the voice of the child where he lieth. Arise and lift up the lad, and take him in thy hand, for I will make of him a great people." And God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink.


And as he lay and slept under the Juniper tree, behold, there came an Angel and touched him, and said unto him, "Up and eat."

And the Angel of the LORD came again the second time and touched him, and said, "Up and eat, for thou hast a long Journey to go."


Jacob departed from Beersheba and went toward Haran,


Afterward departed he thence and came to Beersheba.


Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came unto Beersheba and offered offerings unto the God of his father Isaac.


The name of his eldest son was Joel, and the name of the second Abiah, which were judges in Beersheba.


Then all the children of Israel went out: and there gathered a congregation together as it had been but one man, even from Dan to Beersheba and out of the land of Gilead, unto the land to Mizpeh.

When he saw that, he arose and went for his life, and came to Beersheba in Judah, and left his lad there. And he went a day's journey into the wilderness, and when he was come sat down under a Juniper tree, and desired for his soul, that he might die, and said, "It is now enough, O LORD, take my soul; for I am not better than my fathers."


And he answered, "Seven lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that it may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well." Wherefore the place is called Beersheba, because they sware both of them.
