And when evening came, He went out of the city. Verse ConceptsEvenings For Jesus And His Disciples

And when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him, having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on His head as He reclined. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, To what purpose is this waste? read more.
For this ointment might have been sold for very much and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, He said to them, Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work on Me. For you have the poor with you always, but you do not always have Me. For in putting ointment on My body, she did it for My burial. Truly I say to you, Wherever this gospel shall be proclaimed in the whole world, that which this woman has done shall be spoken of also, for a memorial of her.

Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was (who had died, whom He raised from the dead). Then they made a supper there for Him. And Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those reclining with Him. Then Mary took a pound of ointment of pure spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the odor of the ointment. read more.
Then said one of His disciples (Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who was to betray Him) Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor? He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and held the moneybag and carried the things put in. Then Jesus said, Let her alone. She has kept this for the day of My burial. For you have the poor with you always; but you do not always have Me. Then a great crowd of the Jews learned that He was there. And they did not come for Jesus' sake only, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

And as they went, it happened that He entered into a certain village. And a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she came to Him and said, Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me. read more.
And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things.

And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent out two of His disciples. And He said to them, Go into the village over across from you. And as soon as you have entered into it, you will find a colt tied, on which no one of men has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, Why do you do this? Say that the Lord has need of him, and immediately he will send him here. read more.
And they went, and they found the colt tied by the door outside, in a place where two ways met. And they untied him. And certain of those who stood there said to them, What are you doing, untying the colt? And they said to them even as Jesus had commanded. And they let them go. And they brought the colt to Jesus, and they threw their garments on it. And He sat on it. And many spread their garments in the way, and others cut down branches off the trees and scattered them in the way. And those going before, and those following, cried out, saying, Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David, who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
