And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, being ill, was about to die. And, having heard about Jesus, he sent to Him elders of the Jews, asking Him, that, having come, He would thoroughly save his servant. And they, coming to Jesus, were earnestly beseeching Him, saying, "He is worthy for whom Thou shalt do this; read more.
for he loves our nation, and he built the synagogue for us." And Jesus was going with them. And now, when He was not far distant from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, "Lord, trouble not Thyself; for I am not worthy that Thou shouldest come under my roof.
