Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and he resided in it. Then he went out from there and built Penuel.
Then the sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, and he was limping because of his hip.
He went from there [to] Penuel, and he spoke similarly to them; and the men of Penuel answered him just as the men of Succoth answered. And he said also to the men of Penuel, saying, "When I return {safely}, I will tear down this tower."
