Then the soldiers, when they crucified Jesus, took His garments, and made them four parts, a part for each soldier; and the vesture. And the vesture was seamless, woven from the top throughout. Then they said to one another, Let us not tear it, but let us gamble for it, whose it shall be. In order that the Scripture may be fulfilled, saying, They divided my garments among themselves, and upon my vesture they cast the lot. Then indeed the soldiers did these things.

And they gave Him vinegar mingled with gall to drink: and tasting, He was not willing to drink it. And crucifying Him, they divided His garments, casting the lot, and sitting down, they continued to watch Him there. And they placed over His head, His accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

And they continued to strike His head with a reed, and spit on Him, and putting down their knees worshiped Him. And when they mocked Him, they divested Him of the purple robe, and put on Him His own raiment: and lead Him away in order that they may crucify Him. And they compel a certain Simon, a Cyrenean, coming from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, that he must take His cross. And they lead Him to Golgotha, a place which is interpreted, The place of a skull. And they gave Him myrrhed wine to drink: and He did not take it. And they crucify Him, and divide His garments, casting the lot upon them, what each one may take.
