And the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, (and made four parts, to each soldier a part,) and his coat. Now the coat had no seam in it, being woven from the top throughout: they said therefore to one another, Let us not cut it, but let us cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, "They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots." These things therefore the soldiers did.
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the hall, and gathered the whole band about Him:

And after they had thus abused Him, they took off the scarlet robe from Him, and put on Him his own clothes, and led Him away to be crucified. And as they were going along they met with a man of Cyrene, whose name was Simon; and forced him to carry the cross. And when they were come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, read more.

And the soldiers led Him away into the hall, which is called the Pretorium; and gathered their whole company together: and they clad Him in purple, and platted a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and saluted Him, saying, Hail king of the Jews; read more.
and struck Him on the head with a reed, and spit upon Him, and bowed their knees, and did Him homage. And when they had thus abused Him, they took off the purple from Him, and put his own clothes on Him, and brought Him out to crucify Him. And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was passing by, coming out of the country, to carry his cross: and they brought Him to a place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, the place of a scull.
