Thematic Bible: Danger of denying

For she did not know that I gave her grain, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal. So I will return and take away My grain in its time, and my wine in its season, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

For he says, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am wise. And I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the people like a strong man. And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the people; and as one gathers eggs that are left, I have gathered all the earth; and there was none who moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. Shall the axe boast itself against him who chops with it? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who moves it? As if the rod could wave those who lift itself up! Therefore the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, shall send leanness among his fat ones; and under his glory He shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. And the light of Israel shall be as a fire, and His Holy One as a flame; and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.

Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre. So says the Lord Jehovah: Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are a man and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of gods; Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; all secret things are not hidden from you! With your wisdom and with your understanding you have made riches for yourselves, and have worked gold and silver into your treasuries. read more.
By your great wisdom and by your trade you have multiplied your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches. Therefore so says the Lord Jehovah: Because you have set your heart as the heart of gods, behold, therefore I will bring awesome strangers of the nations. And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness. They shall bring you down to the Pit, and you shall die the deaths of those slain in the heart of the seas. Will you yet say before him who kills you, I am of the gods? But you are a man, and not God, in the hand of him who kills you. You shall die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers. For I have spoken, says the Lord Jehovah.

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. The king spoke and said, Is this not great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty? While the word was in the king's mouth, a voice fell from Heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken. The kingdom has departed from you.
