Let your tears run down like a river day and night. Allow yourself no rest, and don't stop crying. Get up and cry aloud in the night, at the beginning of every hour. For there are many people who are rebellious, especially those who are converts from Judaism. They speak utter nonsense and deceive people. They must be silenced, because they are the kind of people who ruin whole families by teaching what they should not teach in order to make money in a shameful way.


In each and every province, and in each and every city, in the places where the king's order and edict reached, there was gladness and joy among the Jewish people, along with a festival and a holiday.
