Yahweh said to Moses, "Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel. But commission Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see." So we stayed in the valley over against Beth Peor.

Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho.
