So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods that [were] in their hands, and the ornamental rings that [were] in their ears. And Jacob buried them under the oak which [was] near Shechem.
And the people heard this troubling word, and they mourned, and they each did not put their ornaments on themselves.
Let your adornment not be the external [kind], braiding hair and putting on gold jewelry or putting on [fine] clothing,
