On the same day the Lord made a covenant (promise, pledge) with Abram, saying,
“To your descendants I have given this land,
From the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates—

These Moses the servant of the Lord and the Israelites defeated; and Moses the servant of the Lord gave their land for a possession to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. These are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the Israelites defeated on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal-gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir. Joshua gave their land to the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their allotments, In the hill country, in the lowland, in the Arabah, on the slopes, in the wilderness, and in the Negeb -- "the lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites:

Then the boundary shall turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and it shall terminate at the [Mediterranean] Sea. For the western boundary you shall have the Great Sea and its coast. And this shall be your north border: from the Great Sea mark out your boundary line to Mount Hor; From Mount Hor you shall mark out your boundary to the entrance of Hamath, and its end shall be at Zedad; Then the northern boundary shall go on to Ziphron, and the end of it shall be at Hazar-enan.
