And departing thence, he went into their synagogue. And, lo! there was a man having a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him. And he said to them, Who of you that owneth one sheep, if it fall into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold of it, and lift it out? read more.
Of how much more worth now is a man than a sheep! So then it is lawful to do well on the sabbath. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored sound as the other.

And lo! there was a woman who had had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bent together, and wholly unable to lift herself up. But the ruler of the synagogue answering, being filled with indignation because Jesus had performed a cure on the sabbath, said to the multitude, There are six days in which it is proper to work; on those therefore come and be cured, and not on the sabbathday.
