And the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, hearing, rending their garments, rushed into the crowd, crying out, and saying, Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of like suffering with you, preaching the gospel to you that you should turn from these vanities to the living God, who created the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all things which are in them: who in bygone generations, suffered all nations to walk in their own ways; indeed he did not leave himself without witnesses, doing good, giving to you the rains from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness. And speaking these things they scarcely restrained the multitude from offering sacrifices to them.
