In the second year of his reign Nebuchadnezzar had many dreams. His mind was disturbed and he suffered from insomnia.



If I lie down, I say, 'When will I arise?', and the night stretches on and I toss and turn restlessly until the day dawns. My body is clothed with worms and dirty scabs; my skin is broken and festering.


The sleep of the laborer is pleasant -- whether he eats little or much -- but the wealth of the rich will not allow him to sleep.


Then the king departed to his palace. But he spent the night without eating, and no diversions were brought to him. He was unable to sleep. In the morning, at the earliest sign of daylight, the king got up and rushed to the lions' den.


Throughout that night the king was unable to sleep, so he asked for the book containing the historical records to be brought. As the records were being read in the king's presence,
