John 10:1 (show verse)
Verily, verily I say to you, he that goes not through the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief, and a robber.
John 10:2 (show verse)
But he that enters through the door, is the shepherd of the sheep.
John 10:3 (show verse)
To him the door-keeper opens; and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
John 10:4 (show verse)
And when he puts his own sheep out, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him; for they know his voice.
John 10:5 (show verse)
And a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him; for they know not the voice of strangers.
John 10:6 (show verse)
This parable spoke Jesus to them; but they knew not the meaning of the things which he spoke to them.
John 10:7 (show verse)
Therefore Jesus spoke again to them: Verily, verily I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:8 (show verse)
All that came before me were thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them.
John 10:9 (show verse)
I am the door: if any one enters through me, he shall be saved; and he shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 10:10 (show verse)
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance.
John 10:11 (show verse)
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
John 10:12 (show verse)
But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, to whom the sheep do not belong, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep, and scatters them.
John 10:13 (show verse)
The hireling flees because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep.
John 10:14 (show verse)
I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and am known by mine.
John 10:15 (show verse)
As the Father knows me, I also know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep.
John 10:16 (show verse)
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; those, also, must I bring, and they will hear my voice: and there shall be one flock, one shepherd.
John 10:17 (show verse)
For this reason, my Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again.
John 10:18 (show verse)
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it again. This commandment I have received from my Father.
John 10:19 (show verse)
Again, therefore, there was a division among the Jews, on account of these words.
John 10:20 (show verse)
And many of them said: He has a demon, and is mad; why do you hear him?
John 10:21 (show verse)
Others said: These are not the words of one that has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?
John 10:22 (show verse)
And the feast of the dedication was celebrated in Jerusalem, and it was winter:

and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon's porch.
John 10:24 (show verse)
Then the Jews came round him, and said to him: How long do you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.
John 10:25 (show verse)
Jesus answered them: I have told you, and you do not believe. The works which I do in my Father's name, these testify of me.
John 10:26 (show verse)
But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep. As I said to you,
John 10:27 (show verse)
my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:28 (show verse)
and I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall take them out of my hand.
John 10:29 (show verse)
My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to take them out of my Father's hand.
John 10:30 (show verse)
I and my Father are one.
John 10:31 (show verse)
Then the Jews took up stones again, to stone him.
John 10:32 (show verse)
Jesus answered them: Many good works have I showed you from my Father: for which of these works do you stone me?
John 10:33 (show verse)
The Jews answered and said to him: We do not stone you for a good work, but for your impious words; and because you, being man, make yourself God.
John 10:34 (show verse)
Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your law, I said, you are gods?
John 10:35 (show verse)
If he called them gods, to whom the word of God was committed, (and the scripture can not be made void,)
John 10:36 (show verse)
do you say of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You speak impiously, because I said, I am the Son of God?
John 10:37 (show verse)
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not;
John 10:38 (show verse)
but if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in him.
John 10:39 (show verse)
Then they sought again to take him, but he escaped from their hands.
John 10:40 (show verse)
And he went away again beyond the Jordan, to the place where John first immersed, and there he abode.
John 10:41 (show verse)
And many came to him, and said: John did no sign; but all things that John said of this man were true.
John 10:42 (show verse)
And many who were there believed on him.
