When the evening had come, a rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, came, who also himself was Jesus' disciple. He went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in clean linen, read more.
and laid it in his new tomb, which he had cut out of the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and departed. And Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, were sitting there across from the tomb. And on the next day, which was after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered to Pilate, saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while He was living, After three days I will rise again. Then command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away and say to the people, He has risen from the dead. So the last error will be worse than the first. Pilate said to them, You have a watch. Go and make it as secure as you can. And going they made the tomb secure, sealing the stone along with the guard.

And it, becoming evening already, since it was the Preparation, that is, the day before sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellor, who also waited for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate wondered if He were already dead. And calling the centurion, he asked him whether He had died already. read more.
And when he knew it from the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And he bought a linen cloth, and took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a tomb which was cut out of a rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the tomb. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where He was laid.

And behold, a man named Joseph, a councillor, a good man and a just one, this one was not assenting to their counsel and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews; and he also himself waited for the kingdom of God. This man went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus. read more.
And he took it down and wrapped it in linen. And he laid it in a tomb that had been cut in the stone, in which no man had before been laid. And that day was the Preparation, and the sabbath drew on. And also women were following, who were accompanying Him out of Galilee, who watched the tomb, and how His body was placed. And they returned and they prepared spices and ointment. And they rested on the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Then the Jews, because it was Preparation, begged Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away, so that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the sabbath. For that sabbath was a high day. Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. read more.
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a lance, and instantly there came out blood and water. And he who saw bore record, and his record is true. And he knows that he speaks true, so that you might believe. For these things were done so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "Not a bone of Him shall be broken." And again another Scripture says, "They shall look upon Him whom they pierced." And after these things, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus (but secretly for fear of the Jews) begged of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. Then he came and took the body of Jesus. And Nicodemus also came, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. Then they took the body of Jesus and wound it with linens with the spices, as is the custom of the Jews to bury. And in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one yet had been placed. There, then, because of the Preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was near, they laid Jesus.

And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said to them, Hear now you rebels. Must we bring water for you out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he struck the rock twice. And the water came out plentifully, and the congregation and their animals drank.

Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb. And you shall smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, so that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

You are Jehovah, the God who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham, and found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give it to his seed. And You have performed Your words, for You are righteous. And You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red Sea, read more.
and gave out signs and wonders upon Pharaoh and upon all his servants and upon all the people of his land. For You knew that they were acting proudly against them. So You got Yourself a name, as today. And You divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land. And their pursuers You threw into the deep, like a stone into the mighty waters. And You led them in the day by a cloudy pillar, and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way in which they should go. And You came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from Heaven, and gave them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments. And You made known to them Your holy sabbath, and commanded them commandments, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses Your servant. And You gave them bread from the heavens for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst. And You promised them that they should go in to possess the land which You had sworn to give them.

He split the rocks in the wilderness, and let them drink, as from the great depths.

And, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea. And all were baptized to Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, read more.
and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

O Jehovah, the Hope of Israel, all who forsake You shall be ashamed. Those who depart from Me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Jehovah, the Fountain of living waters.

How precious is Your loving-kindness, O God! And the sons of men take refuge under the shadow of Your wing. They shall be satisfied with the fatness of Your house; and You shall make them drink of the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we shall see light.

Be amazed, O heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid; be completely desolated, says Jehovah. For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of living waters, to hew out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.

For these things were done so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "Not a bone of Him shall be broken."

It shall be eaten in one house. You shall not carry any of the flesh out of the house. Neither shall you break a bone of it.

But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
