Jesus saw him lying there, and finding that he had been in this condition for a long time, said to him, "Do you want to get well?" The sick man answered, "I have nobody, sir, to put me into the pool when the water stirs, but while I am getting down someone else steps in ahead of me." Jesus said to him, "Get up, pick up your mat, and walk!" And the man was immediately cured, and he picked up his mat and walked.
