Now when the feast was already half over, Jesus went up to the temple and began to teach. The Jews were dumbfounded and said, "How can this uneducated man know the Scriptures?" Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not my own, but it comes from Him who sent me. read more.
If anyone is willing to keep on doing God's will, he will know whether my teaching comes from God, or merely expresses my own ideas. Whoever utters merely his own ideas is seeking his own honor, but whoever seeks the honor of him who sent him is sincere, and there is no dishonesty in him. Did not Moses give you the law? And yet not one of you is keeping that law. If so, why are you trying to kill me?" The crowd answered, "You are certainly under the power of a demon! Who is trying to kill you?" Jesus answered them, "I have done just one deed, and yet you are all dumbfounded! Then Moses gave you the rite of circumcision -- not that it had its origin with Moses but with your earlier forefathers -- and you circumcise a male child even on the Sabbath. Well, if a male child undergoes circumcision on the Sabbath, to keep the law of Moses from being broken, are you angry with me for making a man perfectly well on the Sabbath? Stop judging superficially; you must judge fairly." Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man they are trying to kill? Just look! He is talking in public, and yet they do not say a word to Him! It cannot be that the authorities have really learned that He is the Christ, can it? But we know where this man is from; when the Christ comes, however, no one will know where He is from." So Jesus, as He was teaching in the temple, cried out, "Yes, you do know me and you do know where I come from, and I have not come on my own authority, but the One who has sent me exists as the Real One, whom you do not know. I know Him myself, because I have come from Him, and He has sent me." Then they kept on trying to arrest Him, and yet no one laid a hand on Him, for the time had not yet come. But many of the crowd believed in Him, and said, "When the Christ comes, He will not perform greater wonder-works than He did, will He?" The Pharisees heard the people whispering this about Him, and so the high priests and Pharisees sent some officers to arrest Him. Then Jesus said to them, "Just a little while longer I am to be with you, and then I am going back to Him who has sent me. You will then look for me, but you will not find me, and you cannot come where I am going." The Jews then said to one another, "Where is He about to go that we shall not find Him? He is not going to our people scattered among the Greeks, and going to teach the Greeks, is He? What does He mean by saying, 'You will look for me and will not find me, and you cannot come where I am going'?" On the last day, the great day, of the feast, Jesus stood and cried aloud, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever continues to believe in me will have, as the Scripture says, rivers of living water continuously flowing from within him." By this He referred to the Spirit that those believing in Him were going to receive -- for the Spirit had not yet come, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. So some of the people, when they heard this, said, "This is surely the prophet." Others said, "This is the Christ." But still others said, "The Christ does not come from Galilee, does He? Do not the Scriptures say that the Christ is to spring from David and to come from the village of Bethlehem where David lived?" So the people were divided because of Him, and some of them wanted to arrest Him, but no one ventured to lay a hand upon Him. So the officers went back to the high priests and Pharisees. The latter asked the officers, "Why have you not brought Him?" The officers answered, "No man ever talked as He does!" Then the Pharisees answered, "You are not swept off your feet too, are you? None of the authorities or of the Pharisees have believed in Him, have they? But this mob, which knows nothing about the law, is bound to be accursed!" One of them, Nicodemus, who had formerly gone to Jesus, said to them, "Our law does not condemn a man before it hears what he has to say and finds out what he is doing, does it?" Then they answered him, "You are not from Galilee, too, are you? Search the record and see that no prophet has ever come from Galilee." And each one went to his own house.

Now there was a man there with one hand withered. And, to get a charge against Him, they asked Him, "Is it right to cure people on the sabbath?" But He said to them, "What man is there among you, if he has only one sheep and it falls into a ditch on the sabbath, will not lay hold on it and lift it out? One Sabbath He was teaching in one of the synagogues, and there was a woman there who for eighteen years had had a disease caused by a spirit. Then He laid His hands on her, and at once she straightened herself up and burst into praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured her on the Sabbath, answered the crowd, "There are six days on which people must work; so come on these and be cured, but not on the Sabbath." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not everyone of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey and lead him out of the stable to water him? And so was it not right for this woman, a descendant of Abraham, whom Satan has for eighteen years kept bound, to be freed from this bond on the Sabbath?" Even while He was saying this, His opponents were blushing with shame, but all the people were rejoicing over all the glorious things that were being done by Him.
Then He laid His hands on her, and at once she straightened herself up and burst into praising God. It was on account of this that the Jews tried all the harder to put Him to death, because He not only persisted in breaking the Sabbath, but also kept on saying that God was His Father, and so was making Himself equal to God.

Jesus answered him, "I have spoken publicly to the world; I have always taught in the synagogues and in the temple where all the Jews are in the habit of meeting, and I have not spoken anything in secret.

If I am not doing the things that my Father is doing, do not believe me. But if I am doing so, even if you will not believe me, believe the deeds, that you may come to know and continue to know that the Father is in union with me and I am in union with the Father."
