When the days grew closer for Jesus to be taken up to heaven, he was determined to continue his journey to Jerusalem. So he sent messengers on ahead of him. Jesus told him, "Foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest." He told another man, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." But he told him, "Let the dead bury their own dead. But you go and proclaim the kingdom of God." Still another man said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to those at home." Jesus told him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
