All the cities were ten with their pasture lands for the families of the children of Kohath that remained. And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with its pasture lands; two cities. And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands, Jarmuth with its pasture lands, Engannim with its pasture lands; four cities. And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands, Helkath with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands; four cities. And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its pasture lands, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammothdor with its pasture lands, and Kartan with its pasture lands; three cities. All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their pasture lands. Nevertheless the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time. And if a man purchases a house from the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall be released in the year of jubilee: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel. But the field of the common lands of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.
Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel; And they spoke unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the pasture lands for our cattle. Of this there shall be for the sanctuary five hundred in length, with five hundred in width, square all around; and fifty cubits round about for its open space. And by the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the district which you shall offer of five and twenty thousand rods in width, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it. The district that you shall offer unto the LORD shall be of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in width.
