Joshua 21:1

And then came the principal heads of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun and unto the ancient heads of the tribes of the children of Israel,

Joshua 21:2

and spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan saying, "The LORD commanded by Moses, to give us cities to dwell in and the fields about them, for our cattle."

Joshua 21:3

And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritances, at the bidding of the LORD, these cities following with their suburbs.

Joshua 21:4

And the lot came out unto the kindreds of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest which were of the Levites had given them by lot, out of the tribe of Judah, out of the tribe of Simeon, out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

Joshua 21:5

And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot, out of the kindreds of the tribe of Ephraim, out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

Joshua 21:6

And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the kindreds of the tribe of Issachar, out of the tribe of Asher, out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the other half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

Joshua 21:7

And the children of Merari by their kindreds, had out of the tribe of Reuben, out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

Joshua 21:8

And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs as the LORD commanded by Moses.

Joshua 21:9

And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities by name:

Joshua 21:10

which the children of Aaron, being of the kindreds of the Kohathites, and of the children of Levi, obtained - for theirs was the first lot.

Joshua 21:11

And they gave them Kiriatharba of the father of Anak, which is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with the suburbs of the same round about it.

Joshua 21:12

But the country that pertained to the city and the villages thereof, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh, to be his possession.

Joshua 21:13

And thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest the franchised cities of the slayer, Hebron with her suburbs, and Libnah with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:14

and Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs,

Joshua 21:15

and Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs,

Joshua 21:16

and Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs: Nine cities out of those two tribes.

Joshua 21:17

And out of the tribe of Benjamin they gave Gibeon with her suburbs; Geba with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:18

Anathoth with her suburbs; Almon with her suburbs: Four cities.

All these cities of the children of Aaron priests were thirteen cities with their Suburbs.

Joshua 21:20

And the kindreds of the children of Kohath that were Levities - that is to say the other children of Kohath - had the cities of their lot, out of the tribe of Ephraim.

Joshua 21:21

And they gave them the free city of the slayer: Shechem with her suburbs, in mount Ephraim; and Gezer with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:22

and Kibzaim with her suburbs; Bethhoron with her suburbs: Four cities.

Joshua 21:23

And out of the tribe of Dan: Eltekeh with her suburbs; Gibbethon with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:24

Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her Suburbs: Four cities.

Joshua 21:25

And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with her suburbs; Gathrimmon with her suburbs: Two cities.

Joshua 21:26

So that all the cities which were given unto the kindreds of the other children of Kohath, were ten with their suburbs.

Joshua 21:27

And unto the children of Gershon which were of the kindreds of the Levites, they gave out of the other half tribe of Manasseh, the city of refuge for the slayer, Golan in Bashan with her suburbs; Beeshterah with her suburbs: Two cities.

Joshua 21:28

And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with her suburbs; Daberath with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:29

Jarmuth with her suburbs; Engannim with her suburbs: Four cities.

Joshua 21:30

And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs; Abdon with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:31

Helkath with her suburbs; Rehob with her suburbs: Four cities.

Joshua 21:32

And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the slayer, Kadesh in Galilee, with her suburbs; Hammothdor, with her suburbs; Kartan with her suburbs: Three cities.

Joshua 21:33

So that all the cities of the Gershonites in their kindreds were thirteen with their Suburbs.

Joshua 21:34

And unto the kindreds of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, they gave out of the tribe of Zebulon: Jokneam with her suburbs; Kartah with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:35

Dimnah with her suburbs; and Nahalal with her suburbs: Four cities.

Joshua 21:36

And out of the tribe of Reuben, they gave Bezer with her suburbs; Jahaz with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:37

Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs: Four cities.

Joshua 21:38

And out of the tribe of Gad, they gave the franchised city of the slayer, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs; Mahanaim with her suburbs;

Joshua 21:39

Heshbon with her suburbs; and Jazer with her suburbs: Four cities in all,

Joshua 21:40

so that all the cities of the children of Merari in their kindreds, which were the rest of the kindreds of the Levites, were by their lot, twelve cities.

Joshua 21:41

And all the cities that the Levites had in the possession of the children of Israel were forty eight with their suburbs.

Joshua 21:42

And these cities had each their suburbs round about her throughout all the said cities.

Joshua 21:43

And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers. And they conquered it, and dwelt therein.

Joshua 21:44

And the LORD gave the rest round about according to all that he sware unto their fathers. So that there stood not a man of all their enemies before them. But the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hands.

Joshua 21:45

There escaped nothing of all the good things which the LORD had said unto the house of Israel. But all came to pass.
