Gershon » Son of levi
And unto the sons of Gershom were given out of the kindred of the half tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with her suburbs and Ashtaroth with her suburbs.
The children of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
These are the names of the children of Levi in their generations: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. And Levi lived a hundred and thirty seven years. The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei in their kindreds.
And these are the names of the children of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. And these are the names of the children of Gershon in their kindreds: Libni and Shimei. And the sons of Kohath in their kindred were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. read more.
And the sons of Merari in their kindreds were Mahli and Mushi. These are the kindreds of Levi in the houses of their fathers. And of Gershon came the kindred of the Libnites and the Shimeites, which are the kindreds of the Gershonites. And the sum of them - when all the males were told, from a month old and above - were seven thousand and five hundred. And the kindreds of the Gershonites pitched behind the habitation westward. And the captain of the most ancient house among the Gershonites, was Eliasaph the son of Lael. And the office of the children of Gershon, in the tabernacle of witness, was the habitation and the tent with the covering thereof and the hanging of the door of the tabernacle of witness, and the hangings of the court, and the curtain of the door of the court: which court went round about the dwelling, and the altar, and the cords that pertained unto all the service thereof.
And the sons of Merari in their kindreds were Mahli and Mushi. These are the kindreds of Levi in the houses of their fathers. They shall bear the curtains of the dwelling and the roof of the tabernacle of witness and his covering and the covering of taxus' skins that is on high above upon it, and the hanging of the door of the tabernacle of witness: and the hanging of the court and the hanging of the gate of the court that is round about the dwelling and the altar, and the cords of them, and all the instruments that serve unto them and all that is made for them. And at the mouth of Aaron and his sons, shall all the service of the children of the Gershonites be done, in all their charges and in all their service, and ye shall appoint them unto all their charges that they shall wait upon. And this is the service of the kindred of the children of the Gershonites in the tabernacle of witness, and their wait shall be in the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
They shall bear the curtains of the dwelling and the roof of the tabernacle of witness and his covering and the covering of taxus' skins that is on high above upon it, and the hanging of the door of the tabernacle of witness: and the hanging of the court and the hanging of the gate of the court that is round about the dwelling and the altar, and the cords of them, and all the instruments that serve unto them and all that is made for them. And the children of Merari by their kindreds, had out of the tribe of Reuben, out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities. And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs as the LORD commanded by Moses. And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities by name: which the children of Aaron, being of the kindreds of the Kohathites, and of the children of Levi, obtained - for theirs was the first lot. And they gave them Kiriatharba of the father of Anak, which is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with the suburbs of the same round about it. But the country that pertained to the city and the villages thereof, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh, to be his possession. And thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest the franchised cities of the slayer, Hebron with her suburbs, and Libnah with her suburbs; and Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs, and Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs, and Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs: Nine cities out of those two tribes. And out of the tribe of Dan: Eltekeh with her suburbs; Gibbethon with her suburbs; Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her Suburbs: Four cities. And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs; Abdon with her suburbs; Helkath with her suburbs; Rehob with her suburbs: Four cities. And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the slayer, Kadesh in Galilee, with her suburbs; Hammothdor, with her suburbs; Kartan with her suburbs: Three cities.
