Anakim » Defeated by caleb
And, to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, gave he a portion, in the midst of the sons of Judah, at the bidding of Yahweh, by Joshua, - even the City of Arba, father of Anak, the same, is Hebron. And Caleb dispossessed from thence, the three sons of Anak, - Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.
Now, therefore, give me this mountain, whereof Yahweh spake, on that day, - for, thou thyself, didst hear, on that day, that, Anakim, were there, and great cities fortified, if so be Yahweh be with me, then shall I dispossess them, as spake Yahweh.

And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek, and fought with him, - and smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites. But Adoni-bezek fled, and they pursued him, - and took him, and cut off his thumbs, and his great toes. Then said Adoni-bezek - Seventy kings, with their thumbs and great toes cut off, have been picking up crumbs under my table, as I have done, so, hath God requited me. And they brought him into Jerusalem, and he died there. And the sons of Judah made war upon Jerusalem, and captured it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, - and, the city, they set on fire.
