Moreover in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed Levites and priests, and of the heads of the ancestral houses of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies. They returned to Jerusalem. He commanded them, saying, "Thus you shall do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart. Whenever any controversy shall come to you from your brothers who dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, you shall warn them, that they not be guilty towards the LORD, and so wrath come on you and on your brothers. Do this, and you shall not be guilty.

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; neither shall you testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice; neither shall you favor a poor man in his cause.

"You shall not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits. "Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous: for I will not justify the wicked. "You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds those who have sight and perverts the words of the righteous.

I commanded your judges at that time, saying, "Hear cases between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it."

If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked;
