These are the sermons that were showed unto Amos, which was one of the shepherds at Tekoa, upon Israel, in the time of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the time of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
Upon this sent Amaziah the priest to Bethel unto Jeroboam the king of Israel, saying, "Amos maketh the house of Israel to rebel against thee; the land cannot away with his words.
The fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Jehoash king of Judah, was Jeroboam son of Joash made king over Israel in Samaria and reigned forty one years,
And the LORD had not yet said that men should put out the name of Israel from under heaven. And therefore he helped them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
