Luke 11:1 (show verse)
And as he was in a certain place praying, when he ceased one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
Luke 11:2 (show verse)
And he said to them, When you pray, say, Father, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come;
Luke 11:3 (show verse)
give us daily our essential bread;
Luke 11:4 (show verse)
and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive every one who is indebted to us; and bring us not into trial.
Luke 11:5 (show verse)
And he said to them, Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight, and say, Friend, lend me three loaves,
Luke 11:6 (show verse)
for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him;
Luke 11:7 (show verse)
and he will answer from within, and say, Trouble me not, for the door is already shut, and my little children are with me in bed, I cannot arise and give you;
Luke 11:8 (show verse)
I tell you if he will not arise and give him on account of being his friend, yet, on account of his importunity, he will arise and give him as many as he needs.
Luke 11:9 (show verse)
And I tell you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you;
Luke 11:10 (show verse)
for every one that asks, receives; and he that seeks, finds; and to him that knocks, it shall be opened.

And what father is there of you, who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? or if he asks also for a fish, will for a fish give him a serpent?

or if he asks also for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
Luke 11:13 (show verse)
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him.
Luke 11:14 (show verse)
AND he cast out a demon, and it was dumb. And when the demon had gone out, the dumb spoke; and the multitudes wondered.

But some of them said, He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of demons;
Luke 11:16 (show verse)
and others, trying him, asked of him a sign from heaven.
Luke 11:17 (show verse)
But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is desolated, and house falls upon house.
Luke 11:18 (show verse)
And if Satan is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.
Luke 11:19 (show verse)
But if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? they, therefore, shall be your judges.
Luke 11:20 (show verse)
But if by a finger of God I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Luke 11:21 (show verse)
When a strong man armed keeps his court, his goods are in peace;
Luke 11:22 (show verse)
but when a stronger man than he comes upon him, and overcomes him, he takes away all his arms in which he trusted, and distributes his spoils.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters.
Luke 11:24 (show verse)
When an impure spirit has gone out of a man, it passes through places destitute of water, seeking a rest; and not finding one, says, I will return to my house from which I came out.
Luke 11:25 (show verse)
And coming, it finds it swept and adorned.
Luke 11:26 (show verse)
Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more evil than itself; and they come and dwell there; and the last condition of that man is worse than the first.

And when he was saying these things, a certain woman from the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to him, Blessed is the mother that bore you, and the breasts which you nursed!

And he said, Yes indeed, blessed are those that hear the word of God and keep it.
Luke 11:29 (show verse)
And multitudes being assembled, he said, This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, and no sign shall be given it but the sign of Jonah.
Luke 11:30 (show verse)
For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall the Son of man be to this generation.
Luke 11:31 (show verse)
The queen of the south shall rise in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Luke 11:32 (show verse)
The men of Nineveh shall arise in the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they changed their minds at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
Luke 11:33 (show verse)
No one lights a candle and puts it in a secret place, or under a modius [1.916 gallon measure], but on a candlestick, that all who go in may see the light.
Luke 11:34 (show verse)
The light of the body is the eye; when, therefore, your eye is sound, your whole body is light; but when your eye is evil, your whole body is dark.
Luke 11:35 (show verse)
See, therefore, that the light which is in you be not darkness.
Luke 11:36 (show verse)
If, therefore, your whole body is light, not having any part dark, the whole will be light, as when a candle lights you clearly.
Luke 11:37 (show verse)
And when he was speaking, a certain Pharisee asked him to breakfast with him; and he went in and immediately sat down.
Luke 11:38 (show verse)
And the Pharisee seeing him, wondered that he was not first baptized before breakfast.
Luke 11:39 (show verse)
And the Lord said to him, Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and plate, but your inside is full of plunder and wickedness.
Luke 11:40 (show verse)
Senseless men! did not he that made the outside make also the inside?
Luke 11:41 (show verse)
But give the things within in charity, and behold, all things are pure to you.
Luke 11:42 (show verse)
But woe to you, Pharisees! for you tithe mint, and rue, and every kind of plant, and omit justice and the love of God. These things you ought to do, and not to omit those.
Luke 11:43 (show verse)
Woe to you, Pharisees! for you love the first seat in the synagogues, and salutations in the markets.
Luke 11:44 (show verse)
Woe to you! for you are like concealed tombs; and men walk over them and know it not.
Luke 11:45 (show verse)
And one of the lawyers answered and said to him, Teacher, in saying these things you reproach us also.
Luke 11:46 (show verse)
And he said, Woe to you, lawyers! for you load men with burdens difficult to be borne, and you yourselves will not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.
Luke 11:47 (show verse)
Woe to you! for you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them;
Luke 11:48 (show verse)
therefore you are witnesses, and approve the deed of your fathers; for they killed them, and you build.
Luke 11:49 (show verse)
Therefore also the wisdom of God said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall kill and persecute,
Luke 11:50 (show verse)
that the blood of all the prophets which has been poured out since the foundation of the world may be required of this generation,
Luke 11:51 (show verse)
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the house. Yes, I tell you, it shall be required of this generation.
Luke 11:52 (show verse)
Woe to you, lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge; you do not enter in yourselves, and you forbid those entering.
Luke 11:53 (show verse)
And when he had gone out thence the scribes and Pharisees were extremely angry, and questioned him on many subjects,

watching him, to catch something from his mouth.
