Luke 17:1

Then said Jesus to his disciples, it is impossible but that discouragements should come: but wo to him, who is the occasion of them.

Luke 17:2

it were better for him that a milstone were hang'd about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should occasion any innocent person to relapse.

Luke 17:3

take care of your conduct. if your brother offend you, rebuke him, and if he repent, forgive him.

Luke 17:4

tho' he should offend you seven times in a day, and seven times in the day return to you, saying, I repent, you must forgive him.

Luke 17:5

The Apostles having said to the Lord, increase our faith, he answer'd them,

Luke 17:6

if your faith improv'd like a grain of mustard-seed, you might say to this sycamine-tree, be thou rooted up, and planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

Luke 17:7

Who of you having a servant, that plows, or feeds your cattle, will immediately upon his coming from field, say to him, come and sit at table?

Luke 17:8

won't he rather say, get ready my supper, dress yourself, and wait upon me, till I have done eating and drinking; after that, take your meal?

Luke 17:9

will he think himself oblig'd to that servant for doing what he was order'd? I believe not.

Luke 17:10

so when you have done all that you were commanded to do, say, we are unprofitable servants; we have only done what was our duty to do.

Luke 17:11

As Jesus was going to Jerusalem, he happen'd to pass between Samaria and Galilee.

Luke 17:12

and as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten lepers, who stood at a distance, and cry'd out aloud,

Luke 17:13

Jesus our master, take pity on us.

Luke 17:14

as soon as he perceiv'd them, he said to them, go shew yourselves to the priests. and on the way they found themselves cured.

Luke 17:15

one of them perceiving he was healed, turn'd back, praising God aloud.

Luke 17:16

then prostrating himself at the feet of Jesus, he gave him thanks. now this man was a Samaritan.

Luke 17:17

and Jesus said to him, were not all the ten healed? where then are the other nine?

Luke 17:18

is no body return'd to glorify God, but this alien only?

Luke 17:19

and he said to him, rise, go your way, your faith has sav'd you.

Luke 17:20

Upon the Pharisees asking him, when the kingdom of God should come, he answer'd them, the kingdom of God is not usher'd in with pomp and exclamations,

Luke 17:21

as see here! or see there! for even now the kingdom of God is commenc'd among you.

Luke 17:22

At length he said to his disciples, the time will come, when ye will wish to see the son of man appear, and shall not see him.

Luke 17:23

they will tell you, here he is, or, he is there: but don't go out to follow them;

Luke 17:24

for as the lightning flashes from one extremity of the sky to the other, so shall the appearance of the son of man be.

Luke 17:25

but before this, he must undergo many sufferings, and be rejected by this generation:

Luke 17:26

the same thing shall happen in the son of man's time as did in Noah's days.

Luke 17:27

eating and drinking, marriages and matches was the business till the very day that Noah entred into the ark, when the flood came and overwhelm'd them all.

Luke 17:28

and as it was in the days of Lot, they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building:

Luke 17:29

but the very day that Lot went out of Sodom, a storm of lightning and thunder fell from heaven and destroy'd them all.

Luke 17:30

even thus shall it be in the day when the son of man shall appear.

Luke 17:31

then let not him that is on the house-top venture down to secure his furniture: and he that is in the field, let him not return back.

Luke 17:32

remember Lot's wife.

Luke 17:33

he that seeks to save his life, will expose it; and he that exposes his life, will preserve it.

Luke 17:34

I tell you, that of two persons lying in the same bed that night, the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luke 17:35

two women shall be grinding together, the one shall be taken, and the other left:

Luke 17:36

two men shall be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luke 17:37

then they ask'd him, where, Lord, will this happen? he reply'd, wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles hover together.
