He built a hedge around it, removed its stones, and planted a vine. He built a tower in the middle of it, and constructed a winepress. He waited for it to produce edible grapes, but it produced sour ones instead.
Then the angel of the Lord stood in a path among the vineyards, where there was a wall on either side.
How long will you threaten a man? All of you are murderers, as dangerous as a leaning wall or an unstable fence.
I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of one who lacks wisdom. I saw that thorns had grown up all over it, the ground was covered with weeds, and its stone wall was broken down.
It will be a day for rebuilding your walls; in that day your boundary will be extended.
